Jasper Martus Announces State House Bid in New Genesee County District

Today, Jasper Martus of Flushing officially kicked off his campaign for state representative. He will be running as a Democrat in the newly created 69th District. Martus, a lifelong resident of Genesee County, touted his experience working in federal and state government and his deep roots  in the community that go back generations. Martus also pointed to the unique combination of youth and experience as to why he will be an effective representative for the community.

Martus issued the following statement Monday:

“I’m running for state representative to be our community’s voice in Lansing. I’ve seen what the government can do well and how the government can do better. Whether it was connecting veterans to the medical care they needed or crafting legislation in our state’s capital, I have reminded myself of a universal truth: every person has a story. As I campaign across our community, I hope to not only earn your vote, but to learn your story. As your state representative, I will take your stories to Lansing and fight for the issues that matter most.”

Martus graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University. He has both volunteered for and worked on campaigns up and down the ballot in Michigan and across the United States. Currently he works as a communications advisor for the Michigan House Democrats and is active in local politics.

The NEW 69th District is composed of Clayton Township, Clio, Flint Township, Flushing, Flushing Township, Montrose, Montrose Township, Mt. Morris, Mt. Morris Township, and Swartz Creek. The primary will be August 2nd and general election is November 8th. For more information and a virtual press kit including photos please go to www.jaspermartus.com/media.
